My daughter came up with, The Butler did it. But cant explain it mathematically.

The Butler did it

Each number corresponds to letters on the telephone. By selecting the correct letters of a choice of 3 or 4 and breaking into words, the coded message is revealed.

Think of it like sending a text message. If you look at the numbers you can spell "the butler did it" using a phone pad by using those numbers.

it could be an anagram, so for example if you think 8=a and keep going and find out what the problems is
