Tom Cruise has been one of the best and most loved actors for a long time now. A lot of people loved Rainman, A Few Good Men, Top Gun, Jerry Maguire, The Last Samurai. I could name so much more but everyone has their favorite. I'm hearing more and more people talk about how his movies suck and well thats just not true. People are just saying this because it's the trend right now to think he's insane. I don't care what he does in his personal life, I'm not watching his movies for him but because of his talent and the movies he chooses to do. Has anyone else noticed this trend?

Just because he might be a weirdo that doesn't mean he's a bad actor all of a sudden.

To Afterbirth: I agree that actors do reach thier prime. However I have an example of what I'm talking about. The Last Samurai was a great movie and It got great reviews and even almost won best picture, after tom cruise starting "going Crazy" I started hearing the same people that liked it saying they hated it. Same with War of the Worlds and Mission impossible III.

HEY! to: Sugardbp1, Vanilla sky is actually my favorite movie ever. Great actors, amazingly creative script with the most awakaning one-liners, every element (Love, Hate, Jealousy, Murder, Life, Friendship, Sex). The music was the best (Paul McCartney, Radiohead, REM, Bob Dylan) The Colors were beautiful, Saddest movie ever. Everyone needs to see this movie.

I am so happy that you asked this question! I am tired of the BS too because anytime there is a question about Tom Cruise everyone say he's crazy and hate his movies and that is far from the truth! I bet if you go over to these so called Tom Cruise haters homes, you will see one of his DVDs or catch them watching his movie! I don't like some of things he do in public but I can't take away the fact that he is a brilliant actor.

So he's a devout Scientologist and is in love with his wife. What's the big deal?Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who have trouble distinguishing between celebrities' personal lives with their onstage personas. I personally don't judge whether I'll watch a movie because it has a certain actor because it ruins the movie for me. I can't stand Ashton Kutcher but I liked the movie Butterfly Effect. Don't worry, like most trends Tom Cruise's current status as being unpopular will fade away once people accept Scientology as a real religion or find someone else to mock and ridicule.

Box office sales are makes or breaks a movie. Sometimes an actor may do or say something that upsets the public, and they don't want to go see his movies. That's why that film company dropped him because of things that he has done or said. He's made a lot of enemies right now. People are probably just saying that his movies suck because he's not very likable right now.

Well his newer movies really are awful but he was a very good actor in things like Jerry Maguire, Top Gun etc... He's past his prime and whether you like it or not a celebrity will be judged by their personal life. I mean how did Paris Hilton got so famous so fast?

I liked 'Collateral', myself. He just stuck his 'private' oar a little too far into public water. He's a frigging actor, not a diplomat or a saint. Stable people don't go into Show Business. That's what it's all about;'Showing your Business!' People should cut him some slack. When it comes to famous movie flakes, he's not even in the top ten.

Actually... I agree with you. if he hadn't done that whole jumping on the couch, wierdness, bad for his publicity thing he would have been a very respected actor.
