Are you the friend...or someone else....I believe a true friend is so extremely rare that sometimes I wonder if a friend is someones imagination or it is just a word for people who hang around together. I have had many friends in my lifetime, and I am on the downhill slide to seventy at the moment. Almost every single one of them disappeared into the distance when I was no longer of value, financially, emotionally or socially. I have yet to find more than one person who would be my true friend. But I do have one True friend. I do things for that friend so they don't have to. I go out of my way for that friend, to make things easier for that friend. I am there when that friend needs someone to talk to. I year for that friends company when I am not around that person. I think about how lost I will be if my friend dies before me....my friend is the love of my life....my wife. If that is what you mean by what is a friend...then you found the answer...if not, one day you will discover I am right...I hope you are as lucky as I am to have a real True Friend like mine.

I guess I would define a friend as someone who chooses to spend time with you socially. In other words someone in your class or at work may not be a friend but more an associate. If you get along with someone and have fun to the point that both of you like hanging out and DO hang out...that's a friend.

Friends are people who, when given a secret to keep - well, secret, will proceed to tell it to 'only one person' who in turn will tell it to 'only one person', and within days, if not, hours, the whole school/workplace/country/planet knows of your teensy-weensy secret.
PS A person can only have a maximum of one best friend. So I just have no best friend. And shame upon you people with 20 best friends.
PPS Just kidding.

A Friend- Someone who will be there when you need them, and even when you dont. Someone to make you laugh, cry, and smile. Someone who'll fight and forgive you in a heartbeat. Someone who will defend you when you need it. A friend is someone you can tell everything and anything. I think a friend is someone who needs you just as much as you need them.

I read on a friend's wall that in any friendship bargains are struck. We've been friends a long time.
