Ok- yesterday I went in for my first ultrasound. It was a transvaginal ultrasound due to me being early in my pregnancy. They told me I am not 6 weeks along, the baby is 11mm and I am 8 weeks along. I was happy to hear that. I saw the baby and I got to hear the heartbeat. I got like 12 photos printed for me, the father and our famalies but I am wondering what exactly I am seeing here. I can see the baby and also the yolk sak clearly. What I dont understand is when looking at the ultrasound am I actually seeing the babys body parts. I swear I see the babies skull, shoulder, arm and other parts. These photos look very definative and not just a blob. Am I really seeing what I think and not just a figmant of my imagination. Help me out moms.

At 8 weeks, you see a head, and body below it, forming which may have arms/leg appendages already.
At 8 weeks, it is a baby. A fetus (a living being) and you are seeing your child.
Congratulations...you are so lucky! What I would not give to have more children!

At 8 weeks you'll be able to see the baby's head, arm buds, leg buds, torso as well as his or her beating heart. The baby is well on its way and is by no means a blob :) In just a few more weeks that same baby will look very similiar to a little person. My u/s at 8 weeks reminded me of a cute little chipmunk.

You are probably seeing the baby's body parts. I just went and looked at my ultrasounds and I have one from when I was 10 wks and you could see all of that clearly, so I'm sure that's what your seeing and it is normal. Congratulations!!!

You were lucky to see the yolk sac-it's usually gone by 8 weeks. Yes, baby's body parts are defined enough by this stage to start to make them out. Just wait til your next ultrasound, you won't believe how much he/she has grown!

At 5 weeks gestation the child LOOKS like a baby!

I had my first ultrasound at 5 weeks 3 days. All that was there was a sac and a heartbeat...its still cells at this point...you probably didn't see any body parts cause they aren't there yet.

At 7 weeks I was able to see the head and the arms and legs (they were really short though). That's probably what you are seeing.

When I had my ultra sound at 9 weeks with my daughter I could see the head, leg and arm buds and the spine. At this stage they kind of look like a sea horse...lol

8 weeks, the child has those features, you very well could be seeing what you think. Ask your doctor to explain the ultrasound.

You can see the main body parts, like head, body, arms & legs.
