1970s ?
I fell in love so many times - no depression
I got drunk so often- no depression
I never did drugs (not bragging just as it was)
I learned to drive and experienced a freedom like never before
I met the most wonderful woman who has been at my side ever since through sickness and in health etc
Love is so life giving
I travelled the globe and saw so much
I matured
I lost my mother
I cried
I got promotion
I wept with joy
I saw the Tories win the election
I cried again
I bought my first home
I felt mature and responsible
I discovered that I would never have children
I accepted God's will
I knew love as I had never done before
I became fulfilled
It was just another decade with promises made hopes fulfilled and some expectations dashed.
It was life.
And I thank God for it.
Look for what is in your life now
And accept it
There is only now
As someone once said of nostalgia
It is OK to look back
It is just that we should not stare
The 1970's were great.
So were the 1980's
And the 1990's
And this decade is the greatest yet

I had my teenage years in the 70's and they were fantastic, the music and fashions were great, I had the time of my life dancing away in my 6in platform shoes and 40in bell bottom trousers thinking I was the bees knees, OK TV was rubbish and you only had the choice of BBC1 & 2 and ITV, but its not much better today even with all the tv channels we have, jobs were a lot more plentiful too, you could walk out of one job into another one on the same day, we had the power cuts that were pretty bad and you were on a 3 day week at most places, but I loved the 70's me, everyone seemed a lot more friendly in those days too.

No, they definitely weren't miserable for me. They were for some though. The Vietnam War was still raging, the civil rights movement was in full swing and television was still in its infancy. I never had a TV until the late 70's. I spent the 70's in the bush, without power or running water. The music was good though. The music was good till 1988 and then it died, in my opinion.

It might have been the time that fashion forgot but people seemed a lot happier to me, I think the 1990's where the most miserable nobody seemed to be having fun just making money

people were locked in to television at the time, much like they are today, but now there's more content, therefore more sources of depression.
i was a young kid in the 70s and i thought life was grand.
it was most certainly the golden age of recorded music/rock n roll

Not at all. I grew up then and had the time of my life. We could play down the street and walk home in the dark without worrying about being abducted or killed.
