I heard on the radio or somewhere that putting soap at the end of your bed takes away leg cramps. Is this true?

Nope, it won't work. Muscle cramps occur at night and affect the legs, especially the calf muscles, and the feet. Muscle cramps is most commonly caused by an imbalance in the levels of calcium and magnesium in the body and/or a deficiency of vitamin E.

Before bed take 1,500mg of calcium and 750mg of magnesium. Also take 400IU of vitamin E daily and slowly increase to 1,000IU daily.

Not likely, but you can take a Calcium/Magnesium supplement because usually leg cramps come from magnesium deficiency
