Or you can think about it this way... years ago when people didn't have convenience of telephones, men and women wrote letters to each other and over the course of a year or more they became acquainted. Letter writing is a lost art, and as long as they aren't doing anything illegal, why shouldn't they correspond?
You often learn more about someone through letters, whether on-line or otherwise, because people seem to feel safer saying something in writing than in person. I know two couples who have married after meeting on-line. They sent each other on-line pictures and corresponded for over a year before they actually met. They felt they had established a quality friendship before moving on to romance.
Of each couple, one of them lived in the USA and the other lived in another country. One couple met after about a year, and were married within six months of meeting. They are happily married and live in his country. The other couple are very educated, and the man said he could not find a woman in the USA that he liked as much as the woman he met on-line. She was educated in America and is a doctor from another country. They knew each other on-line for quite some time and were recently married.
Through writing you can learn more in depth things about someone that they may not want to share verbally. So don't be too quick to judge. It could be a good thing so give him his space.

yes it is weird. Question 1 How can he have a on line girlfriend when he never met the person in real life? Question 2, is he sure that the person on the other end is a female?

yeah i think that's weird. especially since you have no idea who the person usually is. it's hard to also know if they're telling the truth or just saying what you want to hear. you never know who you could be dealing with. there are some weird people out there! you should just be friends with that person if you truly feel you know them--find someone in the "real world". there's plenty of people out there and you can find one!

I think it is wierd. How can you date someone when you don't even know them personally? He needs to get off the internet and get with reality.

I believe it is totaly stupid. He could be talking to a 40 year old pervert acting like a woman. Tell him to get a real woman. The internet is like a black hole. It is hard to get out once you got sucked it.
