my fiance, a fireman, has said he has seen this happen to people before.
however this is a phenomena that is really not studied much or taken seriously. while that limits the information you can find out about your chances, it also says your chances are pretty slim since it doesnt happen so much that people believe it to be real.

Very few cases of SHC have been reported. Fewer can not be ruled out by more conventional fires. If it actually happens, the likelihood of it happening to you are slim to none. You're more likely to be hit by lightening or killed crossing the street.
