its not your fault. the person who stole it from you probably lived a bit further from the pub than you did and wanted to get home quicker. if you see anyone riding it grab it back and hand it back, if not bah, **** happens! if you do feel really guilty though, you could always buy him a brand new one!!!! sod that though eh!!!!

How would you own up? If you don't know who it belonged to in the first place? Unless you put a "Found" sign up near the pub, and if someone claims the lost bike, you can offer to buy them a new one.

Double (k)nicker's, THAT's funny...
Two answers and a maybe, the choice you make depends on your ethics and your feelings:
1) forget it. You're not in possession of the stolen item, and you didn't sell it. In this case two wrongs make a right. OR,
2) if you "own up," you are financially responsible for replacing the item you stole...
and
a maybe- if the owner reports the item stolen and it turns up somewhere with your fingerprints all over it (assuming they have a record of your fingerprints to trace and they haven't washed off in the rain), you might end up held legally responsible for the theft, somehow.
the choice is yours.

First off, it was wrong, and you should feel guilty. However, I wouldn't own up to it unless you want to have a criminal record. Maybe there is a way you can find out who the bike belonged to, and somehow "anonymously" compensate him. Then ask God to forgive you.

My kids bike got stolen right out of our garage during a rain. Same sort of thing. I know I would feel better is someone came and apologized. We just feel so violated.

Maybe the person you lifted it from, saw it and took it back.If not, when you go back to the pub, before you get too pissed.Ask around and see if anyone knows the owner, and offer to make it up to him/her.Maybe after a few rounds everyone will think it's funny. You have to admit,it's a bit ironic.

I think...you should forget about it, I mean is not right what you did but...unless you can find that person from who you got the bike and buy him/her a new bike...which I don't think it's possible....feeling guilty should be enough.....it's just a bike

woah, that's pretty crazy. If you own up then you might have to pay for a replacement. At least you've acknowledged you've done something wrong. If you had not seen a problem with what you'd done then it's very concerning. Perhaps write a letter?

Maybe the owner came for it. Who leaves a bike outside a pub with no safety chain anyways?? You are still a drunken vandal...lol

Forget about it. You were going to take it back. Next time you know better not to take it.
You can not trust that they will not press charges against you even if you offer to pay for it.
Maybe if you hear who it belonged to at the pub then you can send them some money without telling them that you did it.
BUT do NOT TURN YOURSELF IN !!!
