Your ex-husband is a choad with no sense of priority. I played in high school and college and at all times keeping up the grades was a prerequisite for playing. Best your son understand that right away.

First Your Right You Should Take Him Out Of Football Grades Are More Important Then Sports Second Your X Should Not Make Your Son Pay him Back in Cash When He Not Doing School work Make Him Do things Around the House. Or Your X could say Instead Of An Allowance he will take it out that way. The Most important Thing Is Your son grades go up and improve

How does your son feel about this? Often a student participating in team sports will try even harder in the classroom. Also in most of the schools I have been affiliated with require that players maintain at least a "C" average or they will not be eligible to play. There isn't enough information here for an outsider to honestly determine whether or not you made a good decision. Perhaps coming up with parents who can't agree on anything has taken a toll. There are too many divorces and people want to know what is wrong with America. Straighten out your life first and be an example.

Depends on where you live, i.e. in TX football is everything.
No, seriously, if the kid isn't studying enough the real answer is he has to be disciplined to study more. But taking him out of football - that will hamper his physical development perhaps. Isn't there something else, maybe like video games or TV or computer time, that can be restricted instead?
I don't think you chose the best answer, but then again I don't know the facts of your situation.
Here's something I used to do - I would have my boys pick their own punishment and they would ALWAYS pick one harsher than I would have imposed. Would that work for you? Then you could ease up if he shows improvement. It's a double-barrel strategy that worked real good. My kids turned out GREAT!

What would he do if the school he attended drop him from the team due to bad grades.? They do. High School and especially Colleges. He need to calm down and understand if your son is not doing well in school he wont go far in life. I rather be out of $85 than thousands for college fees. You did right.

Good for you!!!! that was always a rule in my house, No pass no play. The coaches usually backed me on pulling them and the teachers were more than willing to provide weekly progress reports. 3rd week, all passing, back on the field. Or the bull or behind the wheel or whatever. I agree, if he cant get back on the team, make him do some work to pay back the $85. Be tough mom. That age aint easy.

I also applaud you. My son plays football and baseball at school but he knows that his grades come first. What you are doing is teaching him a valuable lesson. He has to get his priorities straight and that there is no easy road. As to the 85 dollars he should be made to work it off. Extra chores and the such. Way to go for sticking to your guns.

So is money more important to your ex than your sons future? Tell him to stick it. You are right on track.
I hope that you gave your son a chance to get with it before pulling him from the team. Don't make your son the battle ground of a dispute between you and your ex.

What does the $85 have to due with his grades?
Anyways, in my school district if you dont make the grades you can't play, if he LOVES football he's gonna bust his butt in order to play again. Good job Mom!
