DVD-RW surely can burn CD's too. Most of the times DVD-R comes with CD-RW, which means it can burn CD's too. but some can come with reading capabilities only

Any drive labelled DVD-R/RW is an advanced drive and will obviously be able to burn basic CD-R/RW.

yea....the only difference RW makes is that you is rewritable...meaning once you copy something onto it you can overwrite it with something else.
