If they don't know the answer, they critique the spelling. It makes them feel important.

One of the reasons that I think that people are hung up about spelling here is because they really want to understand what the person is saying so as to be able to give a good answer and help the person out who is asking for advice or an answer to a question. If there is bad spelling than the question won't be understood in the right way and people will react and give you a sassy answer or tell you to go back to school and learn English better or something like that.
In the right hand corner is the check spelling to help people spell words better. This is a great tool to use like a dictionary!
Please don't be offended if people want others to spell better. It's mostly so they can help that person out in some way.
I hope that this has answered your question and that you won't be so upset with people here from now on.

Good Spelling, Grammer and Punctuation, the three of 4 which is the foundation of the English language, shows that you can utilise the English Language properly and communicate your thoughts to other people in a meaningful and easy to understand manner.
One or 2 spelling errors etc are not that bad. If you spell FRIENDS the wrong way in an otherwise correct sentence, that is not the worst crime in the world.
And besides, if you don't write your things properly on here, you are breaking the "Terms of service".
Lastly, the 4th foundation is Verbosity, which means large vocabulary.

Because spelling right reflects your proper education and to elicit adequate understanding your question. See, I had a hard time understanding what you wrote because of your corrupted English and very.... very poor spelling. I taught myself how to swim and type. You can too. If you're not sure of the spelling, all you have to do is punch spellcheck and the computer does it for you. How difficult can that be. Don't you like to learn? I learned a lot of high resounding words, such as conniption, dichotomy, paradox etc. from this computer. It's not a question of revenge at all. More of a learning tool.

I have never personally made fun of someone who has misspelled words here on Yahoo answers, but however when I am reading questions and answers, it does get frustrating when the words are butchered so badly you don't understand what the person is trying to say. Often if the message is typed so badly I just give up and don't even read it.

you shouldn't take the p*ss but you should be able to get simple words right and any way there is a spell check so there isn't really a reason tp get it wrong. but off course it is wrong to take the p*ss because what if they do have a problem with spelling.

People like to feel that you care enough about them to make it as easy as possible to read what you send them. If it is difficult to read, then the message adults receive is that you do not value their time and you do not care if they get a headache trying to read your jibberish. Practice your typing and you will get better at it. If you don't try, then you will not improve, your typing and life will be more difficult because people will treat you as they feel you are treating them. And that is badly.

In order to communicate your thoughts with others you simply must learn the rules of language. You have to have enough courtesy to spell check your communications. There are rules we all follow for punctuation, grammar, vocabulary, and sentence structure. It is simply a stupid nonconformity to not follow the simple rules of the language you are communicating in. Why should your readers have to decode what you have written in order to understand you? You are responsible for communicating your thoughts not the reader.

You may be the only one who feels this way. Our communication here is by script. It is important to use proper spelling to get your point across....also there is a spellcheck on each entry.

I don't think its vengence, but there is no excuse for bad spelling. Your lack of self-esteem is showing. Are you ugly and have no friends? Are you teased? I feel sorry for you.
