And so the propaganda and whitewashing continues...

I remember seeing a feature on the news here in Australia about a system that had been fitted to commercial aircraft that would allow operators on the ground to "Take control" of the aircraft if the flight crew failed to respond to calls from the people who monitor air traffic.
It also mentioned that these aircraft could be landed by operators on the ground if the flight crew had 'passed out' or it had been hi-jacked.
Apparently, the controls on the aircraft could be rendered 'unusable' preventing a hi-jacker from flying the aircraft.
You only have to look at the flight of the 'predator' drone that has been operating in the skies over Afghanistan, armed with missiles and controlled by operators on the ground in the U.S.
A cruise missile can fly right to it's 'target' with the flight plan that has been programmed into it's onboard computer, from many hundreds of miles away, as happened in the beginning of the attack on Baghdad.
Yes, I believe that happened on 9/11 and they were 'possibly' controlled on that day by other aircraft in the area, and yet I don't believe that a terrorist group would have access to that sort of tecnology, unless the U.S. have taught them how too.

Ok...I know that you conservatives refuse to think for yourselves and generally just repeat whatever today's talking points are, but come on! "Terrorists" by definition are poor, extremely under-funded people. For some reason, noone considers it terrorism if a rich country like the US bombs hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians in a country that has never done anything to us.

The so-called "terrorists" can't afford anything more than cheap small arms and bombs made from manure and ether...let alone have the ability to do the R&D to make remote controlled airplanes! Such R&D costs HUNDREDS of BILLIONS of dollars! Where do you think that these people that can't hardly afford food are getting this kind of money? The entire government of Iraq (pre-invasion) didn't have that kind of money! We seized it all, remember? There was only a couple dozen billion dollars in there!

If you are referring to the US government, that's another story. We've had remotely controlled airplanes for decades, and have refueling tankers that are 767's that could easily be fitted with remote controls for a few hundred million dollars (since no R&D need be done).

They used the airline attitude simply by fact its a extra ideal message than purely a usual bomb. Bombs bypass off continuously. yet think of utilising a lfying bomb. as far as sneaking knives on board. for sure it may desire to be executed as protection replaced into no longer that tight. There were no precendent to set protection at such stages as they are actually. additionally, the human beings tracking the plane on the floor do purely that, they computer screen and talk. whilst the planes veared off objective. All they could do is talk. they could touch the airplane, for sure there could be no reaction if a terorist is flying the airplane. by the time it is recognized by the guy tracking, they could could desire to notify their supervisor, then the supervisor could have notify whoever else to scramble some jets to intercept the airplane. In all that quantity of time, theres no way those planes could desire to be stopped. despite in the event that they may be stopped. What are u going to do? Shoot down an american airways jet with in all probability hundreds of people on board. I dont think of so. exceptionally if u didnt be attentive to interior the 1st place who replaced into flying the airplane. they could have veared off objective for any style of harmless motives. Heavy fog, intense seen air site visitors no longer being waiting to seen on radar.

Maybe, but the fear they want instill is that it is another human-begin that is willing to fly a plane into the target of choice, so to kill as many as possible.

For the price of 19 airline ticket they acquired 4 cruise missiles on 911.

I believe you are right and had we invested about two weeks worth of Iraq war expenditures on airline defense capabilities, we would all be safer. Instead we are wasting money and lives warring in Iraq creating more terrorists and otherwise achieving the apposite of the hoped for goals.

Silly, isn't it
