recently my urine has been having a very bad odor. Is this something I should see my doctor about or could it be from something I eat?

It could be from something that you ate, something with a lot of sulphurs in it like garlic or onions. Asparagus can also give your urine an unusual smell. This will clear up on its own.

If you haven't been eating a lot of these foods recently, then the unusually foul odor could be an indication of some sort of infection-either a yeast infection or a UTI. These are usually accompanied by thick discharge and/or pain or discomfort when urinating. If it is an infection you'll need antibiotics to clear it up (don't try the over-the-counter stuff!) and the sooner the better. I would check with your doctor ASAP.

In any case, you always want to be sure to drink enough liquids per day (preferably in the form of plain old water) to keep your urine an almost clear color. This will ensure that toxins expelled through your urine are flushed out regularly without causing damage to your bladder (a condition known as "irritable bladder"). And cranberry juice is believed to contain a substance that can help clear the urinary tract which will decrease your chances of developing a UTI so try to have a glass a day.

I work in a hospital lab and perform urinalysis testing. The stinkiest pee is from people with a UTI or bladder infection. Some foods can make pee smell bad too, and also first morning pee, just because it is concentrated.
Whew! Where'd I leave my bleach bottle???

if you don't drink enough it will smell bad, certain foods, however if it stings when you pee, or there is a tinge or red in your urin (and it isn't your period), you have a hard time starting to pee or a sudden urge to pee when that isn't noraml then you should call your doctor. thoose are signs of a possable urinary tract infection.

goodluck.

Pee is waste. In other words, the ammonia and sodium and other unncessary body fluids that your body doesn't absorb into your bloodstream. It's WASTE. You shouldn't expect it to smell good.

It's liquid the body DOESN'T want, little buddy. It's all in your body and bladder...you think it should smell like roses? Lololol.
