I have been running a partnership with my partner (we are women -both married to our partners) for nearly 3 years but since we have engaged workers she has become really agressive and seems to be trying to make it appear as if she is running the business, and I dont exist. I have never been a confrontational person and dont want to have a blow up in front of the people we employ but know that when I speak to her about her behaviou she will be even worse than she is now have backed off as I cant face the bad moods or 'digs' at me. I must sound a real whimp but I just want to get on with my life and run a business without feeling scared of going to work in the morning.

Offer that your partner buy you out, since she's intent on running the business by herself.

If she refuses, simply let her become the "Operations Manager" and hang back - enjoy the fruits of her labor. If she carps about how "lazy" you're becoming, remind her that you offer to help all the time and she pushes you away. Repeat your offer of her buying you out.

If she accepts, start up a new company and become her competitor.

Don't be aggressive, if you are angry she will be angry back but I'm afraid you have to confront this or it will not get any better. Go in tomorrow and ask to speak to her. Take her somewhere quiet away from the rest of the staff where you will not be overheard. Calmly tell her exactly the way you have been feeling recently and that it has got so bad that you are afraid to go to work. Allow her to respond to your concerns and try to work through things together. If you cannot do this without either of you losing the plot and resorting to personal insults then this is not a partnership any more. You will then have to consider your future. Good luck!

One line retorts in a quiet but angry voice usually stops people in their track as it's unexpected from 'doormats'.
That's how she probably thinks of you 'a doormat'.
Whenever she gives you recourse then simply say through gritted teeth...
* Shut the hell up
* Bite me
* Put a sock in it
* stop being a complete *****
* Give it a rest
* Get a personality and then come back!
* Grow up
You can use all sorts of smart comments like that to 'shock' her into thinking about what she is saying.

If this doesn't work then take the matter up with a good solicitor/lawyer!
Never be afraid to bite back, this is a form of bullying!
Don't be a victim
