You confused him. He is nervous. He doesnt know how to handle this. He probally thought about it for along itme and worked up the courage and you trashed his dreams with one little word. You need to go to him alone and tell him you still like him but as a friend and talk it aout. Tell him your not ready to move forward and you want him in your life, but not ready to go more yet. And that you dont want him to go all the way away..Get the feelings out in the open. He is just embarrassed.

Put yourself in his shoes... if you liked a guy and got up the courage to tell him so and he said he wasn't interested in you, how would you feel and how would you want him to treat you afterwards?
The fact is, your friend probably never saw you as only a friend and therefore it CAN'T go back to the way it was. The only thing you can do is try to talk to him, be gentle with your letdown and make him understand you still care about him. But if you only want to go back to the way it was so YOU'LL feel more comfortable, maybe it's best to just ignore each other and move on.

Too late - not only did the idiot ask you out, but he had expectations.
For him to behave in such a way means he is a wimp of epic proportions and you made the right decisions.
He's acting like a hurt puppy - good call, honey.

he's been rejected, i mean, c'mon girl! don't expect him to be just "OH hey!!!! best friend!" He probably got hurt, & now feels like a complete idiot cuz you said no & he thinks that he soulda known you would've. Sooner or later, it'll be o.k. I tink you need to let him know that though. Just go up to him & be like "Man, that math homework was a killer huh?" Just talk to him!!!!!!!!

I know its difficult, his pride is hurt, he will get over it in time, he fancies you and feels rejected and embrassed around you. Its best to keep away form him for a while till he gets over it, and wants to be friends again.
