That would be Lincoln who was a Republican. Who wrote the several racists laws that came to be known as "Jim Crow?" That would be Democrats.

Abraham Lincoln and the republican party abolished slvery. The northerns just said forget that! When the south heard about this, that caused the civil war. After the war, he abolished slavery once and for all (at least in America)

liberal Republicans... it sounds like an oxymoron now days, but the parties switched in the 1960s... the vast majority of today's liberals would have been Republicans in civil war times, while today's republicans would have been democrats... just look at what both sides supported, it's pretty clear...
I mean it's basically the same idea as gay marriage now... the idea of basic rights for everyone...
