talking dirty (flirting, having cyber sex) is not illegal.

something to remember is that just because your country may grant "free speech" (like here in the states), does not mean that you have the freedom to say whatever you want online. some sites restrict what you say. for example, you cant talk dirty in a disney sponsered chatroom. you can talk dirty in private instant messages (IMs) through yahoo, AIM, msn, icq, etc.

if you're making your own website online, you want to check the terms of service (TOS) that you have to agree to when you sign up. many free website providers (geocities, topcities, lycos, etc) prohibit adult / sexual discussions on their websites.

you're best bet is to check the rules of where you want to talk dirty at. while it is not "illegal," you might end up finding yourself out of the service you are talking dirty on. you're webpage might be taken down or you might be kicked out of a chatroom. that is the worst punishment you could face for talking dirty online.

if you are an adult (over the age of 18) and talking dirty to a minor (someone under the age of 18) it IS illegal. watch the "To Catch a Predator" series on Dateline.

the internet is perhaps the purest form of free speech and expressionism. If anyone talks dirty online, you cannot be arrested for it.

however, some internet communities find that talking dirty on their sites is disrespectful and inappropriate.

It is if the person you are talking to is underage, and even if they are over 21 you shouldn't sexually harass them online. That could mean trouble.
