I have a microphone and want to record some things on my computer. Are there any free programs availible?

You can use Recorder, already on your PC. Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > Entertainment > Sound Recorder. Just click the red 'record' button... it will create a .wav file.

Or you can download 'Audacity' a free, open-source audio program which gives you more control such as changing the pitch, or the tempo, or mixing other audio/music, etc. The link is given below:

And check out shareware sites and/or download.com for 'recorder' software. There are lots available.

If you have Microsoft programs, you should also have a program called "Windows Movie Maker". You can record your voice on that. It's listed under Accessories.
