you could afford to get pierced, but can't afford the cleaner????Hmmm, I'm guessing you should learn to budget better. Use Alcohol! it's like less than a dollar!!!!!!

You didn't go to a very professional place...I wouldn't go back there if I were you.

Sea salt and warm water. Be sure the solution tastes similar to tears. Buy an anit-microbial/anit-bacterial soap such as liquid Dial and wash it twice daily be sure to remove crusties from the jewelry and rotate the jewelry a bit, then soak in the sea salt 2-3 times a day. Dont touch/play with it. Avoid harsh cleaners like peroxide, bactine and rubbing alcohol. All of these things can dry out your skin and make the healing process harder for you.

Good luck from an experienced piercer and piercee. 23 holes :-D

When I got mine done they told me to use Lever2000 anti-bacterial soap twice a day. I never had any problems.

BTW--they told me not to over-do alcohol because it would dry out too much. That will make your skin stick to it. You want to make sure that the ring moves freely in the piercing and get all the gunk out from around it--yes, there will be gunk for a few days. If the gunk doesn't go away after a few days, it's probably infected--seek medical attention. I've had mine for 10 years, and it's also with-stood me being pregnant twice. No problems.

a very inexpensive way to do it get a shot glass and put hot water and salt in it place it on your belly ring and hold it there for about 45 sec. kinda skake it around so the it clean all of it. I have had mine peirced now for about 12 years and that is what i do+ use Dial antibacterial soap!!!!

i have my belly button peirced and have never had a problem with it. let me tell you, do not buy that expensive stuff they tell you you "need". Dial antbacterial soap works perfectly. Do not get the bar soap, get the liquid soap. Everytime you are in the shower, make sure to put some soap in your hand and clean the ring and the hole very carefully. move the ring around so that you get every inch of it. you should be just fine.

If you use salt it will burn like the dickens and irritate the area involved. Use alcohol. Make sure that you keep it clean. There have been cases of death as a result of belly piercings and gangren.

So i take it...you didn't get it done by a professional..Because they would have told you how/what to use....may or may not have given you a sample. Oh, well...
