Yes...the water softener removes calcites and other minerals from the water. Not only does it help your dishes, but the calcites in the water collect in pipes, dishwashers, hot water heaters, and other locations, shortening their life spans and increasing your maintenance costs.

Check into a water conditioner. I have a lot of iron in the water here. If I didn't have a conditioner I would have rusty water spots all over the tubs and toilets. You might also want to look into a water filter that can be installed on the water line that comes into the house. Go to Home Depot or Lowe's to check them out.

Yes. Soft water gets clothes and dishes cleaner and even makes bathing or showers much nicer. And it will also help eliminate the spotting on your dishes.

Yes, soft water is better for cleaning, and it's easier on your plumbing..................BUT, you don't want to drink it!!
Soft water IS NOT filtered water!! Considering the cost of the softener, and all that expense AND HAULING of salt for it, I'd NEVER consider one. It's entirely up to you though.

Yep it would. Also if you use the same system for bathing purposes then it's also better for your skin.
