If there was such a thing as free will. Then why do people have regrets about some kind of action or decison they made previously. But, seriously regret it or can't quite figure out what they were thinking in the first place ? If you truly had free will. You wouldn't have regrets or make mistakes. Because, you'd always be in control.

"Just because a person has freewill doesn't give them absolute control over every situation. Because other people have freewill as well. " and "Just because you are in control does not mean you will not make mistakes with that control " Both of these statements are wrong. These statements make absolutely no sense what so ever. Free will implies 100% self controll, the ability to see the outcomes of actions-decisions. Just as a cure for a disease is a 100% kind of thing. You are either diseased or healthy. Can you honestly say that we are 100% freewill beings ? We are under the control of emotions, drives, reflexes that overwhelm our concept of free will. If we had free will.We would be able to prevent automatic physiological responses like sexual arousal, rage, laughing at something funny, fears, etc.

Only hindsight is 20/20, whether there is free will or not.

Just because you are in control does not mean you will not make mistakes with that control. The very idea of having regrets means that we had to make a choice in order to regret it. If everything were fated and our lives were directed from outside there would be no use for regret because what happened to us would have been inescapable. Regret comes from wondering and imagining what would have happened had we exercised our freewill differently.

As for not knowing what we were thinking after a decision was made, free will doesn't mean we will make logical or even explainable decisions. Intuition, hunches, and even completely abandoning all evidence to the contrary exists within using free will.

I do not think you understand what free will is. Free will is simply having a choice over your actions. Being able to choose from what is right over what is wrong. In order to do so you must understand what the difference is
.
Second you comment leaves no room for growth intellectually or morrally. Regrets come from reflections of your actions after you have expereinced the consequences. The outcome does not always come out as planned and therefore your pice you pay is far greater than the rewards you actually received.

That doesn't make any sense really.
Following free will, I may feel it necessarily to tell every person I know exactly what I think of them and their mother. This is my right to do since it is my free will. After alienating everyone I know or even getting punched in the face, I will most likely regret excercising my free will. Free will only means that we have the ability to choose what we feel is right or wrong, that doesn't mean that decision is necessarily right or wrong. We will still regret bad decisions.

It's better to look back on your life and regret the things you did than look back and regret the things you didn't.
Just because a person has freewill doesn't give them absolute control over every situation. Because other people have freewill as well.

What makes you think that having free will makes you infallible? It is not the lack of free will that leads to mistakes and regrets, it is not making the right choices when you exercise that free will.
