What's your opinion about Iran?

They are the huge winners in our "war on terror". We have done them the huge service of deposing Sadaam and destroying Iraqs capabilities. Plus because we can't get Iraq under control they are able to provide arms and support to the Shiite rebels, thus making our task harder and allowing them to weild a lot of influence on the future balance of power in Iraq. Plus, because our military is tied up in Iraq we are giving them the 5+ year window that they need to work on developing nukes with no punishment other than saber rattling and harsh words from the west.

Ten years from now, Iran will be a HUGE power in the middle east, and through it's oil reserves and influence over other middle eastern countries including Iraq will also be a financial powerhouse. Plus they will have nuclear weapons and the esteem of other middle eastern countries. In short, they will be the biggest, strongest nation in the middle east - all thanks to the U.S. botching it in Iraq.

Every Country has its sovereignty to safeguard and its every country's right to fight for it.But at the same time it has also a social responsibility not to destabilise the world with weapons of mass destruction in the wrong hands. And this is the only reason why IRAN, IRAQ, NORTH KOREAN etc is being targeted.By the Western nations, who will be the most affected if these weapons gets to wrong hands. But my personal opinion on Iran would be, Iran should first be able to let go of its hardcore ideology and must be a responsible nation,which can contribute to the world being a better and a safer place.

I think that the sitiuation is out of control. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is an insnae man. I mean Wiping Israel off the map? Saying the Holocaust never happened? And now they are building nuclear wepaons?! Do you see a pattern? It is going to get out of control unless the UN gets off its butt and stops talking about feelings and actually do some hard negotiating or if it has to come to it, military action. I have full respect for the Islam religion, they are no better pr worse then Christianity, Judiaism, Hinduism, or buduism. But you cannot use your religion, wether Christianity, Judiaism, Hinduism, Islam, or buduism as an excuse for violence.

What's most interesting about the situation is that the US created the problem. Until about 1-2 years ago, the country was led by someone who as progressive, democratic, and pro-West.

But because of the US invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq, the Iranian people became scared. And to protect them against what they perceived as unchecked US aggression in the region, they elected the current president -- a hard-line fundamentalist who would stand up to the imperialist US. The population voted to give up their progressive freedoms, in the name of security from a fundamentalist leader.

We created the problem in Iran. Just like we're doing here.

A great country...lived there for a year in 1979-80....they have risen to the challenge without bowing to Bush and whether the Yankees like it or not the country is far more democratic and liberal than the sheikdoms that allies with the USA.
