No shorts, flip flops, bikinis and sarongs, wear a pair of khakis with a shirt and loafers, ladies can wear almost anything they like as long as it is not too revealing.

At a lot of all-inclusive resorts, you'll find that they have different dress codes depending on the restaurant.

Many will have a buffet restaurant that is more relaxed and a la carte restaurants that are more formal.

Generally speaking that means, at the buffet you can wear pretty much anything (except a bathing suit) and at the a la carte restaurants, it means men must wear long pants.

Check with the resort. My wife and I went to an all-inclusive resort on the Riviera Maya for our honeymoon, and "approrpriate dress" for dinner was a shirt with a collar and slacks for men, a dress or a shirt with a collar and slacks or a skirt for women. BTW, shirt with a collar includes polo shirts.

If it's formal, tux for the guys and evening dress for the ladies. Otherwise, nice business attire should be acceptable for the men.

it really depends on the restaurant... usually dress-up for dinner is slacks and collered shirt, and something similar for women, sundress, casual dress, usually not tshirt and shorts, and jeans
