the virus is gone, but our computer is drastically slowed down, and we dont have too many things installed other than the necessities so that cant be it. here's what's wrong with it:
1)no matter where we try to open the internet explorer from, it takes five minutes or more to open up
2)when I click a link it doesnt work, it just freezes up the computer, so i have to go to properties, copy the link and paste it into the address bar
3)When I click a flash button nothing happens, and if i rite click and go to properties, it is obviously not going to show the link to the redirection but the link to the flash button.

what do we do???

hi, why not ditch Explorer for Firefox, it is free and it uses less resourses:

if that doesn't help then take it to a shop and ask them to reformat and re-install windows and then install firefox and a good virus program

Well god only knows what Dell did. They really aren't the most talented techs out there. What antivirus do you have? If you have Norton or McAfee then you should remove them and install Avast from www.avast.com. Norton and McAfee are the biggest memory and resource hogs in the world of antivirus software.

I recommend you enable automatic updates and make sure all updates are downloaded and installed. Sometimes that will fix bugs that are slwoing down your machine. If all else fails, back up your important files and completely reformat and reinstall Windows. If you still have the problem after all that, it's probably a hardware issue.

Sounds to me that "Dell", may have given you the comfort of thinking the virus was removed. I would say that they did not remove the virus, or if they did you have more then one virus in your system.

If you can get into your home page browser, download a really good free program from, www.lavasoft.com Ad-Aware Se Personal and run the program. (Free for home use).

Or another free program is www.superantispyware.com an it will scan your memory, registry files/folders and favorites. Scans all 140,000 object in my pc.

Or you can try www.ewido.net -Not a free program, but becomes free if you don't purchase in thirty days. They will just remove the guard in the tray and you will have to update on a manual basis instead of being able to get auto updates almost every hour on the hour.

Any one of these programs should clean out your pc of adware, spyware, malware, trojans.

The key for you is to be able to get into your browser so you can download one of the above programs.

Most important go to start and open Microsoft Updates. Microsoft will scan your pc for critical updates. All found, you will be asked to install them. Important to keep critical updates upto date.

Best of luck.

Sorry you haven't heard this. do not purchase Norton now or ever back! theory you knew, i heard about 2 years in the past now. they're completely undesirable on your pc and in reality are a virulent disease themself! My pc has performed so a lot more beneficial positive in view that i have been given rid of them. have not had any issues in view that. maximum proper thanks to no longer get a virulent disease is to be careful what web pages you open and under no circumstances to open mail from the unknown. do no longer surf the porn web pages. bottom line_____no remember what you've...until eventually you've a mac....if a hacker needs to get in they're going to. stay remote from NORTON! The programmers understand it and now you do too.
