What makes you Yawn?

We yawn because we need more oxygen, the wider our mouths are open, the more oxygen we can take in. Also, yawning is only 'infectious' because if people are in a room together, and one yawns, the others are likely to be breathing the same low oxygen air as the first one to yawn so they all do as they all need more oxygen. Its purely psychological when it happens over the phone or when u have seen someone on the television yawn- or maybe it has just reminded our brain that we are a little oxygen starved ourselves! not enough oxegen getting to your lungs, also it is very infectious, if you see some one yawning you will too. I remember seeing a film years ago called the yawning man and by the end of it everyone in the cinema was doing it too.

A lack of oxygen. You spread your mouth wide open to increase surface area for absorption. Thats the scientific reason. The real reason is women moaning.

Lack of oxygen getting to the brain. Also when you are suddenly exposed to fresh air, the reaction is the same.
