La Maur Inc is or was a hair products company that makes sprays and dies and such. It is probably the stuff you put on your hair to fix/set the color once you have put in the die.
They unsuccessfully sued Wella Corp back in 1963 for tradmark infringment for using the term "Style-Tex" which they claimed that the word Style was used by them since 1945 and therefore would confuse the public.
At any rate, i would think the stuff you found is old and probably should not be used.
