I think you left a variable out of the first one...


PROBLEM 1:

Let's assume it was:
-8x > 64

Then you would divide both sides by -8, but since you are dividing by a negative number, you need to reverse the inequality symbol:
x < 64/-8

Simplify:
x < -8


PROBLEM 2:

3k - 2 > 13

Add 2 to both sides:
3k > 15

Divide both sides by 3, but since 3 is positive, there is no change in the inequality symbol.
k > 5


So your answers are:
x < -8 ("x is less than negative 8")

and:
k > 5 ("k is greater than 5")
