Lady Chatterly's Lover (D.H. Lawrence) 1928

I don't know about an American novel published after 2000.
(I should, I work in a library. Now I'll be thinking about that one!)

I can give examples of novels that were challenged or banned (Banned Book Week is Sept. 23rd, 2006- Sept. 30th, 2006)

"Tropic of Cancer" by Henry Miller is an American novel that was censored in this country until the 60's.

"Lady Chatterley's Lover" was also banned in this country but is an English novel.

I can't think of an American novel published after 2000 that was banned in the US, nor could I find the name of one on line. There are numerous "challenges" to books every year; for lists of these check out the American Library Association website and particularly its materials on banned book week. "Challenges" affect individual libraries, school districts or states but generally do not affect the US as a whole.

Unfortunately, many books were challenged prior to 1970. How far back are you going?

I assume you're doing this for a school project. Check out the American Library Association's website for more information.
