Use a chamois leather. Put a little washing up liquid in a bowl of warm water, and use the chamois leather to wash the windows, then use a dry cloth to remove excess water and to add a shine. No streaks, just clean windows.
I wouldn't use windowlene, it will take you ages to clean it off again.

I have found that vinegar and water is okay, but I like to use Windex applied with newspaper. The newspaper does not leave fuzz or streaks on the mirror.

Warm water, tiny spot of washing up liquid and a window leather thats damp but well wrung out. The washing up liquid stops the smeared effect.

Methylated spirits mixed with water in a old spray bottle works well. Newspaper works well to clean the dirt off and it leaves it totally dry.

My window cleaner always seems to have a half bucket of dirty water but he seems to be able to get them clean, and when he asks for a refill he does not add anything to it ?.
