Your hard drive is most likely partitioned. First you need to find out how many drives are avalible by going to My Computer, then there should be:
A: 3 1/2 Floppy Drive (If you have one)
B: Nothing ( Shouldn't be There)
C: Hard Drive
D: CD Rom or Another Hard Drive Partition
E: CD Rom or Another Hard Drive Partition

If you have more than one hard drive letter than you have a partitioned hard drive. This means your hard drive is split up into sections, one could be 8 gig and the other one can be 72 gig.

Another answer could be that there is 72 gigs of used space. Let me know if you need more help, silv940@yahoo.com

Download Seagate disk manager utility. Use it to install and format. Download it and make a bootable floppy disk, or CD (ISO)

The starter edition will do the trick. Download it at:

DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU NEED TO SAVE THE FILES ON THE DRIVE. THIS WILL ERASE THE HARD DRIVE.

I don't know what model that is and how old it may be, but if it is an old computer then it won't recognize that large of a hard drive.

maybe u need to empty your recycle bin.. sometimes, when u delete all those craps from ur disk, they're gone from the disk but actually they're still there in case you want to restore them later. when u empty ur recycle bin, they're all really gone and the space will clear up
