They promote parochialism, i.e. people are not even aware of another viewpoint.
They prevent youngsters from different backgrounds mixing, thus giving rise to perpetuation of myths and prejudice.
There is no such thing as Catholic or Buddhist maths.
Religious education could still be provided, but out of school hours
Even the parents could profit from "mixed" schools by being able to meet people with other faiths in common activities

Sorry, but I haven't thought about this a lot before, so that's all.

Education is a responsiblty of goverment. The goverment has a seperation of church and state, allowing secular institutions to shoulder that responsibilty removes that seperation. After we desegragated, the goverment guaranteed that all children get the same fair education. having seperate schools dont not meet that clause. Children taught false science, such as the newly renamed 'intelligent design" have a strong disadvantage in the world by being given false information.
I dunno.. just some ideas.

That's a tough sell. People have the right to religious freedom, and to raise their children how they see fit. I would argue that education and religion are two separate entities, and education should be a publically run institution to ensure all children receive equal and fair education under Brown vs. Board of Education.

You cannot argue to close faith schools without arguing to close ALL private schools.

If you try, then you will be showing an obvious anti-religious approach which most people in this country would not agree with.

Well of course you should! Anyone who disagrees with you must be a complete idiot!

Seriously, people like you say that religion is bad and that brainwashes you but at the same time you have such a high opinion of yourselves that you think that anyone who disagrees with you must be an idiot because they don't agree that you are all-knowing.
