Is the social acceptance of recreational drug use in youth culture heading towards instability and breakdown in modern society? Or will we get past this phase and onto the next big worrying issue that will "be the end of society as we know it"?

Simply put...NO.
More emphasis should be put on the bigger underlying problem of ALCOHOL within society as a whole. Lets face it, not all youths are enamoured with taking illegal drugs, but nearly all of them are by the image of drinking alcohol. It really is amazing how Alcohol flies under the radar of criticism in these matters. Alcohol is freely available and although cigarette advertisement has been banned in the UK many years ago, the brewers still get to punt their wares on prime time television every night portraying drinking as glamorous and fashionable. The Brewers Lobby MUST be hugely influential in Westminster and indeed Holyrood. I have taken drugs for years...smoked cannabis like ciggies for ten years, I really like E, not so found of LSD etc and think coke is rubbish ...just cause I like crystal E so much. For some reason I have never been fond of drinking too much in my life.. When I or my friends take the above listed illegal drugs none of us have ever became violent, rowdy or anti-social....which seems to be part in parcel of taking legal alcohol. I have worked for the Police taking calls, my mother worked in A/E dept as a nurse...the biggest problem ..and biggest drain on resources was the result of alcohol.....not people for example ..sitin at home smokin a big fat doobie. Moreover, to alay your fears on society, me and my friends all have degrees, all have good morals/ethics. Worry more about alcohol, worry more about teenage pregnancies, single mothers and the breakdown of the family unit, worry about people that believe in Gods, worry about Global Warming....BUT LAY OF THE "ILLEGAL DRUG TAKERS".......p.s anyone with a brain knows heroins for fools.

Drugs are different. We will have a breakdown until people get their heads out of their butts and realize this simple fact. Nobody should ever go near Crank or Coke or Heroin. Marijuana and Alcohol are OK in moderation when consumed by adults.

This question was asked in the 1960s already.
Society as we knew it ended already, long ago.
And it had nothing to do with drugs, rather the opposite.
Sober people are destroying the planet.

Drugs are bad for anyone that uses them, maybe they don't think so now but they will in a few more years, I so hope it passes all this drug culture because it scares the hell out of me.

Like Holland, we should have Cannabis bars, so people could use drugs legally and in a safe environment, without mixing with alcohol.

Drugs are a waste of time, it took me years of using them to learn this and to quit taking them, if you get offered them refuse and walk away, there are MUCH better ways to live without drugs.

recreational drug use is as old as uncivilization. Rejection of God and the subsequent return of Jesus will be the end of society as we know it, thank God, please hurry. He will then establish Righteous rule.
