According to the Death Penalty Information Center it is actually less expensive to keep someone in prison for life than to convict them and carry out the death penalty. In one state, the total was 1.26 million dollars for a death penalty case and only $700,000 for a life time incarceration case. Some states spend as much as $3.2 million on each death penalty case. There are additional costs in these types of cases that are more than just the cost to keep them in jail year to year. You also have to figure in additional prosecutors, investigators, trial costs, appeals costs, length of these trials compared to non-death penalty cases, and the actual cost of carrying out an execution. All of those things add up.

Way too much money, because of all the appeals they get. (Even though their victim never got any appeals.) It would be a lot cheaper if they would use the death penalty immediately after conviction/sentencing. And no last meal, no tender goodbyes with their family, since the victims never get that either.

Anything is more than they deserve. And its money that could be used for more important reasons. Just think...if all that money was used towards homelessness...of hunger right here in our own country......Imagine !!!
