i have taken 17 pills out of 21 and stopped. the next day i started bleeding (it didn't look like a 'real' period). my period due is Sep 23.i have no PMS symptoms and am worried because i lost control over ovulation totally. the question is: should i consider the bleeding i had immediately after i stopped the pill or not? was this the period??? thanx

I would consider it your period. If you were going to start you period in a few days anyways, I am sure everything is alright. Actually I had a friend that started takeing contraceptives and about a week and a half later she started her period. The doctor just told her that it was her period and if she thinks she might be pregnant to go in. If not, them everything is fine. Hope this helps.

If this is your first month with the pill it's normal for breathrough bleeding. Did you stop drinking the pill? that will also have your "period" come early. I wouldnt worry too much about it. As for ovulation, when you're on the pill you dont ovulate. The hormones in the pill make your body think it's in a state of "pregnancy" in a sense so it wont release an egg, therefore no ovulation.

finish the pill as prescribed. It is a common way of manipulating your cycle.....I personally don't think it healthy and I think if your pills aren't working properly you may still ovulate......so you better be doubling up for a while on your protection methods.

Anytime you miss or skip a pill you will start to bleed....that is what the other pills cause when the first 21 have been taken.
