I have a Volvo 740 GL Wagon. My car stalls while driving. I happens like 3-4 times a week. I did tune up, clean the trottle body, and change the fuel filter. What should I do.

I'm guessing it happens when you are slowing down? is your car an automatic? if this is the case and it will start up just fine when you start it again it is a transmission problem. It is most likely the torque converter. You car likely has a lockup torque converter which acts like a clutch in an auto tranny. If it doesn't unlock like it should it will cause the vehicle to stall. It is electronically controlled and default or off position is unlocked. You could find the fuse for it and remove it. this would keep it unlocked untill you can get it fixed. It will not hurt anything to have it unlocked, it will only reduce mileage slightly because there will not be a direct drive. It's not like a clutch in the sense that it will wear out unocked. It uses fluid to move not friction between plates.

Good luck HTH

If your car was built in the late 1980s it probably has something called a "noise suppression relay" It was intended to keep the ignition system electrics from producing noise through the stereo system (or some such nonsense) ANYWAY when it fails it can keep the car from starting when warm. Unfortunately you need to take it to a Volvo technician for diagnosis.

Not sure...very little information given. Very possible that it's an ignition problem. If it only does it after it warms up, most likely it's a bad coil. If it stalls when cold or during warm up, could be an O2 sensor. Need more info please. Good luck.

Well sounds to me like maye a computer problem. My old car did kinda the same thing. I would be at a stop light and if i didnt put it into nuteral and rev the engine it would die. So take it to your mechanic and have him check it out. Good luck.
