I was looking in to driving up to San Francisco for a honeymoon. I have only been there a couple times before; at an exes company picnic and once with work but never got too see much of it (stayed maybe a day) There was a hotel there called Miyako Hotel in JapanTown section of San Fran. Has anyone been there? IS it nice? Does it cater toward tourists?

I used to live near Japan Town. It's not very big to be honest, only about 3 blocks by 2 blocks. However, there are plenty of authentic restaurants and shops there, as well as a Peace Plaza that you can just hang out and relax. My favorite restaurant there is called Maki Restaurant. It's a very small place but they make very authentic cooked Japanese food. The Hotel Miyako is right there as well, and the hotel is pretty nice and reasonable for the price.
Japan Town caters to tourists, in that most of the shop owners speak English and Japanese. But frankly, it's not a big enough area to stay there for more than a couple of days. Certainly the Miyako Hotel can be a great "home base" in SF...it's pretty central to other areas of SF such as Marina, Broadway, Golden Gate, Union Square, etc.
Here's more info on Japan Town if you haven't found it.

Japantown is nice, but only entertaining for a little while and maybe a bit off the beaten path if you plant to do tourist-ey things. Look for nice places closer to Chinatown, Ghirardelli Square, Fisherman's Wharf or Union Square (are there hotels near Golden Gate Park?). If you're not opposed to driving a lot, some romantic, charming places to go are outside the city: Sausalito, Napa Valley, Monterey Bay/Carmel.
Have fun!

I used to live a few blocks from Japantown, it's nice but not as interesting or as large as Chinatown. If you really want to honeymoon in the real S.F. check into one of the Nob Hill hotels, preferably the Mark Hopkins or Huntington, it's reall beautiful in that neighborhood and just up the hill from Union square, you'll also be on the California st. cable car line, you can walk to many neighborhoods from there; Chinatown, North Beach, telegraph hill, Russian Hill and dare I say it, the wharf.

I've been there. It's kinda small but better during the cherry blossom festival. And the Miyako is a good one, if its the one I remember.
And yes, there is a Japantown and not just a Chinatown.
