I've met girls who couldn't communicate well if their lives depended on it, and I've met guys who can communicate very clearly, & vice versa.

Many say women are more understanding & are better listeners than men. But I've met many women who were terrible at understanding and listening.

Some writers on this topic stated that women like to have two way conversations, while men just like to dominate conversations only to explain some detail about something, & feel smart. But I've met many women who don't like two way conversations, only talk about themselves, don't care about what you have to say, & try to get an ego boost at your expense.

Many believe men talk about events, while women conversate together about their feelings. But I've seen many women conversate about their event with shopping, & some men conversate about their feelings like how someone pissed them off.

I think men & women seem more similar than most like to believe with communication.

Thoughts?

I think people just try to segregate men and women to make themselves feel superior.

Fermi of Borg - On average??? Where is this proof? You can't just say that is so and be done with it. I can easily say on average that women aren't great communicators.

I agree, men and women are more similar than we like to think. But it has been ingrained in us for centuries that men are from mars and women are from venus, metaphorically speaking. As well that men are superior, and women are vile snakes.

However, there are more stupid people out there than intelligent ones, in any respect.

It's almost always the case in studies of this kind that the variation within a group is far larger than the variation between groups. It's a lot like saying one group is smarter than another or better at athletics or weighs more or any number of differences you might measure. The exceptions are so numerous that the 'rule' is all but invalid.

Yes, it's probably been observed that ON AVERAGE women are slightly better communicators than men... but, as you have observed, there is such a huge difference between truly great communicators and truly poor ones that this comparatively miniscule difference doesn't tell you much at all.

Women in general are considered to be better at communicating than men. The reason being is that women like to actually talk about their feelings, emotions, etc. while men tend to keep it inside themselves (hold their feelings in). It's not that men aren't good at communicating, its just that for the most part they don't do it as much as women. That is why women are considered to be better at it.---because they do it all the time!
