why is the paste option inactive in windows live messenger personal settings?

i have made a cool msn nickname, and selected it and copy. when i opened the personal settings window in windows live messenger the paste option is not availible. why is that? i have done it manytimes. even the status message box is inactive for pasting.

I don't know why it's not working right but sometimes you can use the "save as" option on your file menu. That sometimes works when the other has a glitch!
