The last great France military operation was the bombing of the Greenpeace boat in Australia. They have Legionaires all throughout Africa protecting drug lines, killing civilians and raping teenage girls while on their eternal "peacekeeping" missions.
I could bring up losing to Russia, Mexico, Germany (lost once, surrending once), the Vietnamese and every other armed conflict in the last 150 years, but that would be uncalled for.

A day will come when the US will be resoundingly defeated by another force/country probably perceived as weaker than itself. It has always happened in history and it always will. The beginning of the end for America has already begun and it is due to this misplaced, stupid, arrogance. In order to remain as strong as we are, we should respect other nations and refrain from boasting and showing-off. Of course the dumb, ignorant neo-cons are destroying everything and turning this Republic into a mockery. Its really a shame.
As far as the French go, many forget THAT FRANCE ACTUALLY WON WW1. The Americans arrived late in the war and broke the stalemate between France, England on one side and Germany, Austro-Hungary and the Ottoman Empire on the other. France never lost WW1. Neo-cons are just sour at the French, because they did not support that fool "Shrub" when he went into Iraq. They even warned us that it would be tougher to stabilize the country than to invade it. But, NO, Bushie with his tiny little wiener had to have his way and went in to prove that he's a macho man. You know the rest....

This may be why:

It is an image showing what you use to find when you went to Google, typed in "french military victories," and clicked the "I'm feeling lucky" button.
I think in general there is a perception that the French have surrendered or retreated on many occasions thought-out history.
As far as the current "war" in Iraq. In my opinion I think the issue is we are not fighting Iraq! We are fighting a conglomerent of insurgent, fascist, and fanatical groups from many nations WITHOUT A FRONT LINE across a nation of 438,446 square kilometers (169,285 sq. mi).

WHO said we are better than any other military? Proof please or is that another assumption? Your question was worded to insinuate that we were saying we were better than any other military in the world. We have a strong military but----from Proverbs 21-31 (new international version) "The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but victory rests with the Lord"

It is tough to fight terrorists and insurgents when they do not have to "play" by the rules and we do. If they were to say to the US military : Finish the ragheaded bastards off anyway you can, just get it done and done quickly. No rules, no consequences, no backlash.
I am sure that we would kick their asses back to the stone age....not that they are that far from there already.
France? They haven't beaten anyone (by themselves especially) since the 1800's.
WW1 & WW2: They lost and were saved by the Americans.
Indo-China War (Vietnam): They lost and bailed out by USA.
Colonies: Asses kicked again, now they are all their own countries.
Now? They do not deploy anywhere that they may be shot at. They are borderline communists and have HUGE Muslim population. Those idiots are in major trouble.
Their ego's and their wish to be considered a world power, really makes them a laughing stock.....and they aren't really even funny.

Meh, tis a fair point. Its this idea that France 'surrendered' to the Germans, as if they had any choice, during the war.
They used to be the formost military power on the planet, and the Foreign Leigon is still pretty feared. Overall, i'd show them respect, and im British

I don't make fun of the French military. I've heard good things about them in Afghanistan.

You're mistaken thinking that these guys are a bunch of " guys on camels". The U.S. military follows Rules of Engagement where Al- Quida doesn't.

Anyone who has any knowledge of history wouldn't find much to make fun of.
But this war is more about American ego than American democracy, and that always brings out the bigmouths and blow-hards.
France deserves more respect than we've given it. And the US deserves all the criticism it gets.
If only we'd LEARN from it...
