In Macy's what are those chimes/dings for that come over the loud speaker?

Sometimes a store will use the chimes over the PA to pass messages to the employees that they don't want the customers to hear - for example, 3 chimes might mean "Call Police, robbery in progress" or 5 chimes might mean "Manager please come to the front of the store" - I worked in a grocery store once where announcing "Code 99" over the PA meant "Get a load of that guy!"
