I don't see what the problem is. The age of consent is 18.

Okay so far its NOT illegal for a 17 year old to date a 15 year old. Once he turns 18 it could be though! How does her parents feel about it? If they are okay with it- then the age difference isnt really bad at all- its only 2 years!!!! If they really care about each other things could work out for them BUT if the girls parents are against it he could end up in jail! Make sure they r okay with this !

I would ask him to wait and if he still likes this girl when shes 16 it wouldn`t be a problem . In saying that my daughter did date a guy who was 18 when she was 15 , we couldn`t stop her , they would meet regards unless i locked her in her room 24/7 , its all to do with compromise . If he feels they can be together with no naughty business then i would trust him , but remind him any funny business and he could be charged with all sorts !
In the unlikely event they had sex and she got pregnant , he would be done for child abuse ....fine line , she is a minor ...

Is he your son or your b/f? LOL If she is 15 and he is 17 that is fine there are no laws staying they cant do that. However if they plan to be sexually active they need to wait till she is 16 and he is under age. Once he is 18 he can be charged with unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.

the age difference isn't the problem its the law governing it...your friend better be very careful about what they do together though until they are both of legal age. in some states even though both consent to sex the authorities can still arrest the older one, even though the girl agreed and charge them with statutory rape, this also would make him a sex offender and he would forever have to register as one...that's the law. some parents who find out their little girls are having sex do this because they are so angry so he better be very, very careful or wait a couple of years. also consider the girl if they break up for any reason can also charge him with rape.

Well, I can't see anything wrong with it. Yes, technically it's statutory rape, but who here didn't have sex when they were underage? And the age difference is practically zip.
Maybe you could suggest that if he is going to fool around with her, that they keep it at non-penetrative for now, until she's 16 anyway. That way it's a lot safer all round (and probably a damn sight more pleasurable)

You can give him information about what the law says about him having a sexual relationship with her before she is 16 (this doesn't just mean full on sex either, it means other sexual acts too). Once he's got the information its up to him what decision he makes but you can be there to discuss the options, talk it through with him etc. If he decides to be with her in the end you'll have to decide whether you can stay friends with him for yourself.

I don't think there's a problem with that at all. As long as their both under 18 and aren't doing anything stupid (i.e., getting her pregnant) then I don't think there's a problem. But the minute he turns 18, yikes. Poor lad. He'd be seeing the inside of a jail cell.

Good Lord, he's too old for her. Tell him to wait until she's at least 16 or 17. It could be bad for her emotionally just being in that type of relationship.

Well obviously it would be illegal for him to sleep with her, but I don't see the immorality of them dating considering the minimal difference in age. Now if he was 27, that would be a different matter.
As long as he's happy to wait before having sex, then I can't see the harm.
