My roommate has basically been asleep all day and still says he's tired. Doesn't seem to have a fever, no congestion, mild headache. What could be causing it? I say he's just over tired becasue he doesn't sleep much or very well.

1. This is a very good question.

2. First and foremost, don't guess, urge him to be seen by a physician for a full work-up.

3. It could be a variety of things causing his tiredness. Many diseases, illnesses carry similar symptoms (i.e. depression, thyroid, mononucleosis, sleep apnea, anemia, etc.). It has to be sorted out by a qualified medical physician, or specialist.

4. Not getting quality sleep is not healthy. So push him to go to the physician. You'll be doing him a big favor.

Good luck and warm regards.

A million different things. If its a problem, he should go to the doctor. The mild headache is probably from staying in bed all day. No caffiene, no food, you do the math. Also, staying in bed all day, can actually make you more tired. You make your body work harder to stay asleep. Make him get up and take a walk, get some coffee. And then if he still wants to go back to bed, have him call a doctor and set up an appointment for tomorrow.

If he can't sleep well that could be a problem. If he can't sleep he could try a hot shower before he goes to bed. A cup of hot tea. If he is having a specific problem sleeping like it is to hot or to cold or anything else let him take care of the problem,
Stress could also cause him not get a good night sleep. If he has a stress he could try to find out what is causing the stress and try to solve the problems, I know some problems are easier said to fix then to fix.
If nothing helps he sould go to the doctor.

There are thousands of things this could be. Mono, stress, anxiety, depression, diabetes, insomnia, anemia...

Since then hasn't been going on for days, I'm sure he's fine. Just let the man rest. If this continues for a few days, however, and he is having any pains or aches, he needs to see a doc.

Over sleeping can cause fatigue. I usually only sleep six hours at night and some days a nap in the afternoon.

Have a great day!!!

It just sounds like he is stressed out or possible depressed. He needs to keep active and eat right. Sleep is a vital key to someone's health - your body regenerates.
