My fiance had a bearded dragon when he was a kid and he always says how much fun and easy it was. That's all I know about them, but he's had a lot of critters and that was his favorite.

i would have to say a bearded dragon. bearded dragons are more affectionate and have a better personalites. i cant help you out with the snake, because you didnt list what kind. i'd say the two easiest snakes are corn snakes, and king snakes. ill tell you more about bearded dragons because i think they are the perfect reptile for anyone

SIZE: Bearded dragons can grow up to 20 inches(almost 2 feet)
CARE: you must handle him every day so he will become tame. it is best to get them as a baby.
HOUSING: THey should be in a minumum of 30 long gallon tank. make sure it is the long kind and not high. If they are 6 inches or below, the best substrate(bottom of the tank) to have would be repti- carpet or put down newspapers. as they get older, they can have repti-carpet, sand, but the pet store guy will tell you more about this. In there tank should be a food dish, a water dish, a log to sit on and bask on. Make sure the tank has a cover.
FOOD: Bearded dragons mostly eat vegetables, such as collard greens, mustard greens, carrots, apples, grapes, and romaine lettuce. They should also have Reptile pellets to be healthy. Also, they should eat crickets or mealworms, but not as often. Every 2-3 weeks they can have crickets, or not at all, depends on the dragon. If they do not want to eat veggies, crickets are a must. They also get a thrill out of hunting them. You will also need calcium powder to sprinkle on there food, because a lack of calcium is a major problem for reptiles.
LIGHTING: Above your tank, you should have a flourescent strip light, which should be kept on during the day(this kind of is like the daylight to them). you will also need a heat lamp above the tank, shining on half of the tank. half of the tank should be hot, and half cold. Also, on the half that has the heat light, you must have a heat mat. this heats up the substrate where they have to bask in order to digest there food and maintain a good body temperature. With the heat mat, you are supposed to put it under the tank, and it is important that the met never actually touches the glass, because it WILL crack the glass, and you will have to get a new tank. Most heat mats come with raisers.
PICKING YOUR DRAGON: Make sure that the bearded dragon you are going to buy doesnt have a nipped tail, and his tail looks long and healhy. also make sure it is not sick, see if it is active, ask if you can hold it. also, you should watch it eat to see if it will eat. hope i was a help

The size of the snake depends on what type of snake you get. I have a ball python and he is about 4 feet long and he is about 10 years old. He is very easy to take care of. When he was a baby he ate mice. Now that he is full grown he eats one hamster or gerbil a month, he won't eat rats don't like them. They are very clean and don't need much room a 50 gal tank and heating lamp is all I need. A boa or a regular python gets much larger. A boa can reach 15 feet while a Burmese python can get 20 feet long. They need alot of room. I don't know about bearded dragons but I had a green iguana and he got about 3 feet long and he was very nasty. He escaped from his tank and when I tried to catch him he turned around and tore a chunk of flesh out of my arm and I need 15 stitches. The next day I gave him to a local pet shop. All I know is that lizards need more work than a snake, they need daily cleanings and have to be fed greens and crickets everyday. I hope this helped.
