You know, I may be prejudiced; but, if a person wants to lose weight, then they should eat less. This is obvious; but resisted by our society which is gluttonous and overweight. It has become a standard to expect someone else or something other than ourselves to "fix" what ails us. I am sure that if a person has really given it a "full court press" try to lose weight over many years and has failed that there has to be a way to get that person into a condition where they are not literally killing themselves with being overweight.....thus, the gastric stapling or bypass surgeries, which have become so popular.
Also, there probably are charity groups and associations that will help a person pay for such surgeries. I would check with my medical providers and see if there are some financial incentives that could be used to help offset the cost of such a procedure. If not then I would, if severly overweight, put some money aside each month and make a down payment on the surgery and then pay for it on a monthly basis until I had the bill paid in full, even if it took 10 years.

First of all... I don't' understand all those guys with those stupid answers of "eat less" ! The Asker asked a specific serious question, he might be or not overweight, it might be or not his fault, etc...
Now to your questions.. I have done a lot of research on that topic, and I could not find anything... I wrote about this a few months ago, and the feedback I got from readers never really pointed me to believe there are funds available.
I also talked with some obesity organizations but with negative responses... sorry...

Gastric Bypass Surgery /gastrectomy/stomach stapling / lap band (all types of bariatric surgery) is very safe nowadays. It is very cheap in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges obesity surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.
I have also read that they arrange financing for American and Canadian patients, as obesity surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor i personally believe that your obesity surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.
My cousin got her surgery for gastric bypass in India through the forerunners healthcare .She is more than very happy with the results. She has lost 65lbs in 5 months. She just paid 25% of the amount she was quoted in USA and is all praise for this forerunners healthcare company. Hope this helps.

No. I have two relatives who had surgery like that. They looked and there was nothing. (Both by the way have done great on the surgery and had trimmed to weights that they have not seen since they were in high school).

Nope, and surgery isn't always the answer. Recovering can take up to a year in the hospital! I would just do it the old fashioned way, diet and excercise!

Well if they don't have money then how do they keep eating all that food that would make them the way they are. Don't eat save money. All the money they can save by doing that then they can get the surgery. And by that time they will realize that the money that they saved they also lost so much weight.
