Let me concentrate on your question now... because it is a very good one!
1. I am filling the need of connectedness to people / connectedness is one of my basic motivating factors, it fuels my energy.
2. I am filling the need to share my experiences with others.
3. I am filling the need of empathy and helping others. I love to read into questions, pose myself into the situation described by a person and try to figure out a solution to their problem.
4. Through this process I am also filling the need of mental challenge... I learn a lot about the overall mentality of people, I sharpen my problem-solving and reaction capacity... I am keeping my brain in shape with this, so-to-say!
5. I am filling my need of humor, of entertaining others and of getting instant attention. (this was hard to admit, but see, now I admitted)
I will write more, if I discover some more... self-awareness is never enough, looks like..... :-)

The need I am filling is that I am usually online a couple hours almost everyday anyways, and so I try to answer questions that I can help people with. And if I can't then I ask questions that I can relate too. And other questions are those out of boardom.

I answer mainly 2 types of questions. Those requiring an opinion (political, religious, etc.) and computer tech questions.
Opinion Question: I have opinions on a variety of issues, and enjoy giving my personal take on events in general. I find it enlightening in nature because it is better to get it out than hold it all inside. I don't expect to change people's opinions in general, but if I encourage one person a day to search for the truth themselves then it is worth it.
Computer Questions: I have worked in the field for a number of years, and have a lot of practical experience. It feels good to know you have helped someone with a problem, and in some cases saved them money over not having to call in a professional or service.

The need to learn. When I answer questions that I don't initially know or aren't completely sure of--I look it up and then post my answer. Most of that information sticks so it's not only good for that moment, but it pays off at some point when the topic presents itself elsewhere (and it has).

sharing our own life experiences and knowledge to those who want to find out. Create a possiblity where none existed before. Opening up a door to one less question that is answered.
It's about putting People first, always.

You know, I don't even know. But, for me, I do get to share some of my experience and knowledge about things that I have learned something about or have experienced in my life. So, maybe it is for the sense of sharing this info with others.

Entertainment and mental exercise. I don't have anything better to do at the moment, and I seek out questions that really make me think.
