Very well indeed- pregnant women are allowed to swim! Aside from walking, swimming is another best exercise recommended during pregnancy.

Swimming is great exercise because it uses large muscle of the arms and legs. Somehow, it also provides good cardiovascular benefits, and allows pregnant women to feel weightless despite the extra pounds of pregnancy. It's safer form of exercise because the risk of injury is low.

On the first trimester (1-3 months) - go for a swim for at least 20 minutes every other day for maximum benefit. Swimming first thing in the morning may counteract morning sickness and energize her for the rest of the day.( If she swam consistently before she got pregnant, she should be able to continue. If she didn't exercise at all, she should still be able to swim now — she'll just need to start slowly.)

On the second trimester(4-6 months)- her pregnancy won't require heru to cut down on swimming as she grow because it's easy on expectant moms. She may find wearing a maternity swimsuit more comfortable as her belly expands.

On the third trimester (7-9 months)- the water supports her joints and ligaments as she exercise, preventing injury, and it protects her from overheating. The breast stroke is particularly beneficial because it lengthens the chest muscles and shortens the back muscles, two areas that typically become misaligned as her body changes during pregnancy. Using a snorkel will relieve pressure on her neck that's created when sheu bob up and down for air.

The water itself poses no risk to her or her baby: Research hasn't found any health hazards for healthy pregnant women from the bacteria, chlorine, or other chemicals in pools. But avoid the hot tub and sauna, as overheating can hamper the development of a growing fetus, according to various studies.

So generally these are the following precautions: Just be extra careful from slipping/falling particularly in damp area within the swimming area . Be sure that the water is not hot. Avoid overexertion. Be absolutely sure that her pregnancy is perfectly healthy and not contraindicated to go swimming. Otherwise everything is fine.

Swimming is a very theraputic thing for a pregnant women to do. You can get some relief from the weight of carrying the baby so your sore feet can have a break. It is also a great way for pregnant women to excersise. I did some deep water work outs when I was pregnant. It is low impact so there is no jarring of you or the baby. Jump in!

PRECAUTIONS: Do not swim in a pool if it's not properly chlorinated, or polluted water.
make sure the water is cholorinated properly and the water is not pollutedc(lakes, rivers, streams etc....)

You can however go swimming, just not as long as you'd like, don't swallow chlorine and stay in the pool for a minium of an 1 /12 and a maxium of 2 1/2 hour's. all that swimming and standing in the pool is good excercise you just don't wanna over do it.

Yes. It is the best exercise a pregnant woman can undertake, especially being beneficial to you as you become heavier in later stages of pregnancy. Floating helps take the pressure off your spine and keeps all your muscles active. Just take it easy, not too many lanes at speed! Also DON'T be tempted to jump into a jaccuzi if there is one at the swim centre, it can be harmful.

Yes pregnant women are aloud to go swimming infact its a very good way to keep fit during this time. The water holds your body weight and you dont put any stress on your back. Of course take it easy and if you have not swam for a while ask your midwife.

Are you talking about in a pool or in an ocean.

I'd veer away from wave pools & oceans as the force of the waves on a woman's stomach could be too forceful. But there is nothing wrong with a pregnant woman swimming in a pool.

Its great exercise and if she's close to her due date is actually beneficial for helping to enduce labor naturally.

:)

Pregnant women are allowed to swim as long as they dont have any medical restrictions by the doctor. A pregnant woman should not swim, though, if their water has broken.

Doctors recommend swimming for pregnant women, as you get some excersize without putting any strain on your ankles and back which have more than enough to deal with!
I would warn against diving off high boards though lol
