I'm planning to study photography. I'm going to start out at a J.C and then i'd like to transfer to an art school. Does anyone know of a good school? It could be anywhere really.

Also is it true that for most art schools, the requirements for getting in would be an interview and a portfolio? Nothing academic?

Check out the main website for the Art Institutes. They're pretty good, and they will help you find the school that best fits your interests. California is buzzling with job opportunities, but the competition is very high. I chose to go to an art school on the east coast (it's a little calmer). But it all depends on what you like. Do you like warm weather? Cold weather? Big cities? Beautiful campuses? Do you even want to study in the U.S? I studied marble sculpture in Florence, Italy last year. There are so many opportunies and different directions that you can go in! Good luck!

The Kansas City Art Institute is considered one of the best but they have high academic standards. The San Francisco Academy of Art has an open admissions policy and they have an awesome reputation.
