Norton(2006) says that I need to get rid of them manually but I don't know how to do this.

Definately remove norton immediately. That program is a virus in itself. Go download avast at www.avast.com, a free virus program that works great. Run a full scan and it will solve the problem.

Norton probably shows you where the infected files are situated. You just go there, and delete them.

try using other antivirus!!or just note down the name of file or path of the file which norton is showing!!then try to go to its location(if you know the path or search for it in windows folder or registry!!may be u could elaborate on details of virus and message norton is showing!??

if you goto http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_frame.asp
this will do a online scan and remove it,or if u google for the name of the virus this will give u the guide on how to remove

download a free version of AVG and run it in safemode this should remove them.
