It doesn't really matter how long ago the syringe was used. And it doesn't matter if theres any remains or not because the dried up particles left on the syringe can be traced as well. With the advance technology these days we have the capabilities to find out what it is even if it is 10 years ago. And even if multiple drugs was used on the same syringe it is still possible to find out what different drugs is contained on the syringe

If there are traces of the drug still left in the hypodermic syringe then it is possible. However a syringe can be used for intravenously injecting any multitude of drugs-you can not determine what drug was taken by the make and type of syringe.

That depends on how long ago it was used. If it is still full of liquid - then they can. But if only trace amounts are left - time may be a factor.

it is all depends on what was used,how long ago it was used,whether it was contaminated while transporting to the lab,sometimes even minute traces can help identify the chemical composition
